Hey, Cerahbes,

I'd like to interview you briefly for a short story I'm writing on the upcoming Puffy tour on the West Coast. Where can I contact you?

A.L.

I don't mean to bump in rudely, but I'm also going to the West Coast L.A. show, so if you need another take on the show...

I'm alive, great stuff - give me a day to collect my thoughts though, work in 12 hours =X

Andrew on: November 13, 2007, 09:18:27 AM

Smiley Glad you made it back ok. I'm sure we're all eager to hear your stories of the concert. Someone on Puffy's MySpace page said they sung a rendition of the Ramones' "Rock 'n' Roll Radio."

Jeff on: November 13, 2007, 09:28:05 AM

yeah, we need a set list!

Cerahbes on: November 13, 2007, 01:17:32 PM

don't hold me to this, it was a VERY long day and I was on foot in vancouver the whole time but here are some of the songs I remember

I glanced at the set list they had laying down on the stage and it had 19 songs I think

opened with Boom Boom Beat, Nagisa ni Matsuwaru et Cetera, Kimi to Ootobai
MC
Kichiburu Motion ... and here's where i can't quite recall them in order:
Tokyo I'm on my way
Puffy the monster
Radio Tokyo
Closet full of love
Jet Keisatsu
Joining a Fan Club
Teen Titans
Oriental Diamond
Circuit no Musume
Red Swing
Mogura-like *yay cause I love doing the mole dance*

ended with Basketcase then Hi Hi
encore was Rock n Roll Radio and Asia no Junshin

I'm really really straining to remember what all was played but 19 out of 19 is pretty good I think!

Unfortunately they do not give out setlists until the end of the tour - I got one from the Splurge tour from last year in Cleveland that way =) The drummer was sadly a different guy. They pretty much filled the house, not sure if it was sold out .. had to be or very close. I was standing left side front of the stage in front of Yumi *^_^* and I was waist deep in lil japanese women.

They also did an acoustic play and autographic session at this music store that I walked freak'n by at 3pm .... I didn't know it was going on until I was waiting in line at the concert hours after it was over *grumbles* ahh time to get back to work, hey while I'm there I'll sit down and write up a review so I can post it tonight =) have a good one

Cerahbes on: November 13, 2007, 09:50:53 PM

here are some pictures taken with my crappy camera on my cellphone - I really really hope those girls beside me actually do email me so I can get those pictures from them! they said they would *crosses fingers*

enjoy .. not the greatest =(

Jeff on: November 14, 2007, 07:29:17 AM

What does Yumi's shirt say? I can't quite make out the first word.

Andrew on: November 14, 2007, 07:51:51 AM

Thanks for posting the pics Cerahbes. Here's a montague of it I'll post in the Images page on the main website.

Cerahbes on: November 14, 2007, 08:22:24 AM

Yumi's shirt said "candy stripper deep under ground"

Cerahbes on: November 14, 2007, 02:59:10 PM

good news, I got a few more pictures from my friend Akane that I met at the show and here they are - working on getting some higher resolution shots from her too

For easier future reference here is what Ami said about Vancouver in her blogs:

First blog entry:

AmiYumi have landed in Vancouver, CANADA!
It's really cold here.

Our tour is mostly on the west coast of the US (Seattle, LA, etc.) and we didn't prepare any winter clothes so when we landed in CANADA we were freezing!
First impression was...it's not that cold!?
But...no...compared to Tokyo...it's freezing!

Anyway, AmiYumi were then stuffed from the spicy/hot Thai food and became the HOT HOT Girls.

So, tomorrow is the start of our tour.
It's been so long since performing in Vancouver.
And we hope you guys are energetic cause we need energy from you guys!

Ok gotta go!
I'll write again soon!

Second blog entry:

In my last entry I said "Vancouver wasn't that cold" but that was an inadequate comment, so as a penalty "Ami will not eat any more chocolate today". I apologize for my false comment... cause It was freezing x 1000!!!!!
The day I wrote that blog it was still just colder than Tokyo but then the next day...it was too cold that you would think twice about going out.
That day I couldn't even go out to get coffee.
But I wasn't feeling good so I stayed in my room drinking the free coffee and tea, wearing my leg warmers.
But on such a cold day, alot of you came out and we are totally grateful for that.
Seriously, thank you for making the effort to step out of your house to come see us. Did you have fun?

How was the brand new Puffy AmiYumi team?
As for me, it was the first day so there were some troubles and I thought "Ohh, US tours, here we go again." but I was totally hyped.
The show was crazy & full of excitement. It was great to be welcomed so warmly. Thanks!
It was funny when the band was introduced. I was cracking up myself. The couple in the very front was also so cute together that they blew away the cold weather.

Did anyone else notice that the set list Cerahbes posted didn't include Ain't Gonna Cut It. Why would they make a shirt based directly on that song, practice the song in Japan and not perform it on the tour? Even when it is in English? Did Cerahbes forget to mention the song or something?

I wondered about that, almost asked, figured he probably got it right. Maybe the song didn't go over too well in Japan, maybe it's too difficult for them to sing live (they do go into falsetto, which is unusual for them). Or maybe he did forget. As long as you asked, I'm interested to find out.

If they did axe it from the US shows, then that FACTORY performance is gonna be a keeper. Maybe the only time they'll ever sing it live.

Cerahbes on: November 15, 2007, 09:56:55 PM
ya know I was really really torn on if they played it or not .... its a hell of a blur after a concert =) I was sitting in my hotel room at like130am writing the songs down on the hotel stationery - I promise I did everything I could! But I remember the song count being 19 from the set list, and I named 19 songs which didn't include "aint gonna cut it" , so I'm pretty sure they didn't play it - and thats a shame too because I REALLY like the song hehe
if anyone that went to the other venues can confirm this, the splurge shows were like complete carbon copies of each other, so I suspect this tour wouldn't be any different
