Welcome to the forum dedicated to discussing all things Puffy AmiYumi. Hi, Ifm Andrew the webmaster of the fansite Puffy AmiYumi World. Our forum is a joint effort by several of Puffyfs online supporters. Please checkout Anthonyfs Peace.Pop.Puffy and Jefffs blog site Amiyumidas for their unique take on this talented duo. Our goal is one and the same: to help raise Puffyfs profile in the English speaking world. Go Puffy Go!

So if you're new please say hello to your fellow Puffy fans and let us know a little about yourself. If you posted on other Puffy Boards such as Tofu Records, MySpace or the Hi Hi Shrine let us know (if you want) what you were called there.

Our forum went live on September 12, 2007.

Oh I guess I should have introduced myself a little better lol. Hi everyone Ifm Andrew from Indianapolis, the webmaster of Puffy AmiYumi World. Here are some silly pictures of myself.

So why do I have a Puffy fansite? I wanted to improve my HTML and JAVA programming by creating and running my own website. After some debate I decided on a fansite for Puffy. Puffy AmiYumi World went live on October 16th, 2006. Itfs been a fun hobby. Thanks so much to everyone for all the nice emails here and at my MySpace page. Puffy fans are the best. Cheesy

About me, Ifm 41 (yikes Ifm getting old!) and have been married for 16 years to my wonderful wife (who loves Barry Manilow even more than I like Puffy). Ifve always had a love of Japan and am doing my best to learn the language. I occasionally chop up those long swimming pool Noodles with my Japanese swords, brew really bad sake, love J-doramas and often wear my Benihana Happy (Hapi) Coat around the house. Hmmc perhaps Ifve said too much lol.

So hope everyone here has a fun time sharing our love of all things Puffy AmiYumi (yeah yeah some of you donft like the cartoon -- but hey I've got to stick to my byline).

Hello I am Roben and I am a Puffy addict. I have seen Puffy in concert 4 times in the past. I recently returned from Japan with a lot of used Puffy cds because they are really cheap over there. I made Yumi blush at the last concert I went to... it was pretty awesome. *^_^* I wish soooo bad I could go back to Fukuoka in time for the 10/27/07 Puffy concert there.

Jeff on: September 14, 2007, 04:55:53 AM

I'm Jeff and I run another fan site Smiley
Mine's a blog, though, so a little different than this. But maybe some of you have been to it. It's in my sig. I only started it up recently, after splitting it off from my personal blog, where I used to write about Puffy sometimes. It seemed like it just got to the point eventually where I needed a separate blog, so I created one last month. I've been updating it almost every day.

Same experience here! When I saw them in NYC in 2005 I was right in front of Yumi and I'm 6'4 so I was towering over all the little kids in the crowd (at that time, the crowds in the US were about half from the cartoon). She was making eye contact with me all throughout the concert. When they first came out, they both looked really nervous... during I think the second song (I remember it was "Love so Pure"), she looked at me and I smiled and she smiled back. It happened about 10 more times throughout the show. It was also pretty awesome. I've been a total Yumi fan ever since then.

Destruction Pancake on: September 14, 2007, 09:01:41 AM

Okay, so the message board decided to be mean to me...

What's up? My name is Mandy, and I became a fan of Puffy the summer before my Freshman year (I'm now a Junior!) It happened one late afternoon when I was completely exhausted. I turned on the TV and the Cartoon Network channel was on. When it came back from commercial, I got my first taste of Puffy. From then on, I immediately loved them and the show as well (It's so sad that they canceled it!)

One of their songs, "Sunrise", I remember from SD Gundam Force (I believe?), being an anime fan. Also, the fact that I listen to a lot of J-pop (as well as other Asian pop music) influenced my love for Puffy. I listen to Anna Tsuchiya, Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Namie Amuro, and BoA.

My CD collection is as follows: Spike, Nice, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Music From The Series, and Splurge. Hopefully I'll be able to get the Honeycreeper album when it comes out, but I also have downloaded some tracks online because my father doesn't very well trust Internet orders. Sad

Depending on whether or not Puffy decides to tour the US again after the release of their Honeycreeper album, my mother promised me that she'd take me to go see them in concert because she loves them just as much as I do! One of my goals in life is to meet them in person and obtain their autographs. I'd probably be extremely nervous, considering their such superstars, but I think I'll be able to make it back to the car before having a heart attack! Grin

Yumi's my favorite, lol.

ichigo on: September 14, 2007, 01:11:41 PM

I'm ichigo! I've been a Puffy fan since 2002, when I caught the Boogie Woogie No. 5 video on Much Music. I've been addicted ever since! Yumi is by far my favorite! Grin I only just found this website last week (now that I have time to use the internet again), and I'm very impressed! It's so nice to find a Puffy website with this much info, that's actually updated! So, thanks for that!

DoAsPuffy on: September 14, 2007, 04:50:04 PM

^are you the same ichigo from the old Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi forum?! If so, HEYYYY!!! This is Raven~*~Nevermore =D How goes it?!

Hellooooo, I'm DoAsPafii, but you can call me Anna, Anna P, that weird girl etc; Cheesy I am a member of daiforum.com and YUI-Lover.com, where I go by *TangerineRaven* and EndtoInfinity930, respectively. I was also a member of the old Tofu Records boards, where I went by DoAsPuffy.

I live in Indiana (same state as Andrew!!), USA. I'm 16, a junior in high school, and Japanese/Japanese music is my life! Ami & Yumi are my role models, and I admire them and their music greatly.

Anyways, I became a fan of Puffy because of Teen Titans. When I first watched Teen Titans in 2003, the theme song really captured my attention, so I watched the episode the whole way through, and saw that a group named "Puffy AmiYumi" did the theme song. Not only did Teen Titans become my favorite show, Puffy became my favorite artist!

I've been to two Puffy concerts; one in summer '05 in Chicago for the Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Rock Show Tour, and one in summer '06 in Chicago for the Splurge!Splurge!Splurge! Tour. I almost touched Ami's hand at the '06 show, because I had made presents for Ami & Yumi, and I was handing them to her Grin

I was/am an admin for the old Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi forum, but I stopped visiting it because it and everyone there was just becoming a nuisance, haha. I don't think anyone there (except for a select few) actually liked Puffy.. all they cared about was the crappy Hi Hi show!

Anyways, I'm ecstatic that Andrew has started up a forum JUST for our Puffy!~

Cerahbes on: September 14, 2007, 08:12:31 PM

hahah no way, in Chicago 06' were you with all the young girls up front center stage that had like the little box thing?! I was on your right if so. Boy was it hot that day, 100 degrees outside that stupid concert waiting in the sun =(

TBB on: September 14, 2007, 10:58:31 PM

Hi everyone
I've been a PUFFY fan for a bit over a year now and im completly obsesed with them Tongue. I live in Australia so I dont get to go to any of their concerts but hopefully one day i will. Yumi's my favourite.

Hi Raven! I am the same ichigo! I was wondering if you and amifan were going to show up! I'm looking forward to posting on this forum, and not having to read any comments about how the cartoon Yumi is hot in her swimsuit. Huh Good to see you here, girl!

Anthony on: September 15, 2007, 06:01:33 AM

I'm Anthony, and also used to frequent the old Tofu Board.

I found Puffy in 2002 wholly by accident -- I saw An Illustrated History in the record store I worked at, and later picked it up on a whim. The rest is history. Smiley

I saw Puffy live in Detroit during 2006's Splurge! Splurge! Splurge! tour, and it was fantastic. It was their first (and so far only) time in Detroit, but I hope they come back at some point. If not, I might have to trek to Chicago or the coasts to catch them again, because they were that good live.

Wednesday on: September 15, 2007, 02:39:13 PM

Hi! I'm Danielle (a.k.a. "Wednesday" or "Emiko" by my friends)

I'm a Junior in high school.

I'm 1/4 Japanese, but most people think I'm 1/2. (And alot of people tell me I look like Ami. We have the same facial strusture, hair, lips, and eyes.)

I first heard about Puffy when I was watching World Music Videos on a channel called LINK. Then about 2 years later I was at a movie theatre and saw a preview for Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi Show. I've been obsessed with them every since.

I saw them in concert for the first time at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. on July 9th '06.

Jinmouri on: September 15, 2007, 05:59:12 PM

Coming from Southern California, I'm Jinmouri-San, 15 Years Old. I'm also known as Ohnuki Yossie-San and as Puffy715. I'm also a past member of the Tofu Records Forum as well.

I found out about Puffy in 2004, of course, from their show. I also liked Teen Titans at the time and never realized they sang the theme song until I visited the Cartoon Network page. Then, eventually I learned about their history and pretty much, my love of Puffy has grown since those three years.

I have never been to a Puffy concert in these three years since I never heard they had concerts here in 2004~2005 and when I heard about the 2006 tour, one of the concerts was on my birthday, but I couldn't fly to Chicago to go, so I got really depressed. That's why I hope they will visit the U.S. one more time on the West Coast.

I have my own blog where I update about Puffy, too (The URL is in my profile) and it's nice to be here and talk to people who love Puffy again.

aj_loves_pXuXfXfXy on: September 19, 2007, 08:07:08 PM

Hi,

My name is Janne, a 38 years old Puffy fan from Finland. I heard about Puffy AmiYumi first from 'Pop Goes Asia' net radio, the song was Asia No Junshin of course Wink. That was in the beginning of '06. Have bought most of their studio albums since and needless to say i dig their music a lot. Absolutely fantastic. The songs i dig most are Tadaima from Solo Solo and Etude from Splurge but there are so many others as well so it's really hard to pick any best ones.

My dream come true would be to see them perform live someday (love the 10th annivesary concert DVD that i have). I have no expectations to see them here in Europe. I have a couple of Japanese friends so i will go to to see them in Japan then. I just hope they won't stop touring before i get the change to see them.

I play music myself (have been 25+ years) and have been learning some of the songs in my spare time. Great fun!

I am a subscriber of Jeff's RSS feeds (Thanks Jeff, good stuff!)

Happy to be here in Puffy AmiYumi World Smiley

I hope that someday we can turn this continent on to Puffy! And then things will be a lot better!

Amifan on: November 02, 2007, 09:35:12 AM

Hi everyone, it's Amifan from the Hi Hi Shrine. Nice to be here!

I've been A Puffy fan since 2002, when I discovered them via the video for Circuit no Musume. I quickly acquired most of their back catalog and now own 98% of their Japanese albums/singles 1996-2006. I just ordered honeycreeper yesterday. I also own lots of videos, 4 T-shirts, 10th Anniversary book and assorted other stuff. I've seen them 3 times here in NYC, always front row, twice in front of Ami and once in front of Yumi.

I also like Japanese artists Cornelius, Cocco, Shina Ringo, Hitomi Yaida, Halcali, Pizzicato Five, Nobokazu Takemura, Susumu Yokata, and YMO/Sketch Show.

I'm glad to see that ichigo, Mode7 and Raven are here! They were the members of the Hi Hi Shrine who I really liked, and I've missed them.

I've just started to explore this new forum, but so far so good! Finally an adult forum, that looks like it's going to stay around for a while. I'm a happy fan today.

My son is a big puffy amiyumi fan.

He has disabilaties and he takes care of me and his dad cause were not in good health.

My son has hyper tension and hyper thyroid and heart problems.
He works really hard to take care of us and I told him i would try my best to see if i could help him with this.
If he can't meet them both at least hopefully he can meet Yumi because she is his favorite singer.
Well I dont know much about puffy amiyumi but im doing this for my son hopefully some one on here can help!

Hi everyone!

My names Eddie. I'm 19 years old. I wish I could have found this place sooner. I bought my ticket to the L.A. Concert at the Keyclub for friday night. I cant wait! Only thing i'm worried about is going alone, I couldnt get anyone to go with me...So I will be taking the amtrak train/bus friday morning to L.A. and returning after midnight. Cant afford a hotel room.

So its going to be a tough day, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I'm really hoping they have some stuff for sale there.

Will anyone else be going via train/bus(train halfway and bus the rest of the way for me)? In fact anyone going who's in Fresno?

I'll be taking a camera, I dont know if they're allowed but I will take it anyway.

I hope to become an active member of this forum.

Thanks for reading!

Omg, sorry for not seeing your reply sooner!

Yes, that was me!!! =D I was actually there alone (my dad sat in the back), and I was the only one with the box.. I decorated a shoe box top with pictures of all Puffy's album covers and I wrote a little message in Japanese in the inside (something to the effect "Congrats on 10 years!"). I was awestruck when Ami took it.. she was sooo close, hehe.

Augh, I knowww, it was soo hot. But waiting three hours in the sun to be front row at a Puffy concert is SO worth it.

I hope we can meet up when (not if) Puffy comes to Chicago again Smiley

I've been a fan of Puffy since they first debut in Japan back in the mid 90s. I was in Japan at the time, and I remember Asia no Junshin was a mega hit. I just loved how they dressed so tomboyish like myself.
For a while the Osaka dialect became pretty popular with help from Yumi.
I've also caught their variety shows, which I love! Ami and Yumi are a comedic and music super duo.

I attended the SF concert recently, which has ignited my love for Puffy. I initially bought Puffy tickets because it's rare for any Japanese artist to tour America. The other Japanese artists I saw were B'z a few years back.

Some things about myself:
I fansub as a hobby (add English subtitles/effects to Japanese dramas... www.sars-fansubs.com is my fansub group).
I work for a video games news site.
I'm a techie/gadget whore.
I build websites for fun.
I love jpop and jrock.
I'm 2 classes shy of a Japanese bachelors degree and I'm too lazy to go back.
Yoroshiku onegai shimasu! m( _ _ )m

Nice to meet you all.

Mode7 on: November 28 at 03:21:11 PM ?

Fansub? That's cool.. I love video encoding myself and I'm curious regarding fansubbing as a whole. I'd like to try my hand at it someday.
Video game news -- cool; EGM (or any gaming mag) is mostly irrelevant because I can just read news about games and the industry daily for free on the web.
TECHIE AND GADGET WHORE? Even better. Geek out a bit with me and some others here at your will.

...and you've joined the Puffy club.

Enjoy your stay. Smiley

Fansubbing is fun. Karaoke parts are a bit tedious but it's all worth it in the end when you see the finished product. Smiley
Funny that you mention EGM, they are a part of the company that I work for. ^^

I actually do still like to read EGM, but again, it's the impatience and impulse that drives me to scour the web for my info. I mostly check out the magazine because it was really my only source of gaming info during the mid-90s (lol, Hudson TurboGrafx-16 and Atari Jaguar) to early 2000s. I mostly read it for the special features, editorials, and the review crew's take on games. I get EGM and Games for Windows magazines for free, so I don't sweat whether it's worth it or not. Alas, EGM isn't as large as it once used to be. I remember collosal 200-300 page issues from the 90s. :/ Ziff-Davis is in for the good fight against digital distribution. I'd like to see the paper mag stick around for a while though. (It sucks that their TV channel, TechTV, couldn't... Sad Angry )
Apple iPhone? I'd like one, but I'm torn between tactile feedback control (buttons) versus touch control. Otherwise, it appears to be an AWESOME music and video player (480x320 resolution! + codecs) that also happens to perform as a cell phone.

You mean you don't like catching reruns of Cops and Cheaters on G4 instead of, say, stuff about video games?

Yeah, stuff that's totally relevant because pandering to "typical" men's interests sadly sells. Sad
Even when G4 was still about videogames, the programming was too narrow and it lacked that magic and personality that TechTV had. It has only gone downhill since the suits realized that videogames aren't enough to sell a channel. -_- It only took the destruction of one great network in the process, eh?
I would be happy if the entire G4 headquarters just .. ceased to exist. Also, Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb need to apologize for selling out to that crap network. Imagine the crapstorm that would ensure should they suddenly leave the network.
"NOO, WE NEED YOU! WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT THE TOKEN VIDEOGAME-LOVING FEMALE THAT BRINGS IN THE TREASURED 12-25 YEAR-OLD MALE DEMOGRAPHIC?!"
Seriously.. they have enough talent and don't need to waste it rotting away on G4, television for reruns and shows no one cares about and definitely NOT technology.

On a more positive and relatednote, I enjoy having more and more new members to swell up the ranks here. Perhaps I will hit up the anime club or college radio station here to perhaps introduce more people to Puffy's music. Smiley
