Will you get to see Puffy this tour?

Andrew on: October 25, 2007, 07:41:01 AM

I am going to be seeing them twice, as well. I'm going to the Key Club and House of Blues venues. Smiley

Jeff on: October 25, 2007, 08:11:30 PM

Seems like that's gonna be a common theme at those two shows. Seems like a weird choice of cities, doesn't it? They skip so many cities completely and then play two that are what, 30 miles from each other?

I'm gonna miss them this year Sad

But I saw them last year when the west coast couldn't, so it all balances out. (Of course, we in NYC didn't get a "real" Puffy show, we got a festival show. So I'm still a little jealous.)

Mode7 on: October 25, 2007, 08:21:04 PM

I'm definitely going to the L.A. show.. I missed them in 2005 when Puffy came here during the spring. Last year, Puffy didn't even touch the west coast, so this all definitely balances out. (Although, to be fair, I would like more cities and people to experience Puffy live.)

I'll take at least $100 with me to purchase souvenirs and such.

I believe this is my first post here, in which case, hello y'all. (I'm not a Southerner.) My first post should definitely be in the introduction section here, but I have to ready that up a bit more...

Cerahbes on: October 25, 2007, 11:00:19 PM

awesome, I'm heading to the Vancouver show - hope to see someone there *^_^*

Randall Flagg on: November 12, 2007, 09:33:58 PM

Sadly, no. They're not coming anywhere near Memphis.

PUFFYROCKS on: November 13, 2007, 10:53:01 PM

haha, guess i'll be seeing you at the house of blues Jinmouri. Nice to see puffy fans unite!

eddiefb3 on: November 13, 2007, 11:13:32 PM

I'm going to their concert at the Key Club! I would have went for the one in anaheim but I bought the tickets over a month ago Grin and the House of Blues didnt have their tickets for sale online yet and I didnt want to take the chance of not going.

I live in Fresno Calfornia and am taking the amtrak train/bus to L.A.

I hope to meet more Puffy fans there, they're hard to find here Cry

alkulp on: November 14, 2007, 09:16:39 AM

Several forum members will be at LA and Anaheim... We ought to come up with a way to identify each other from the crowd! I'd like to meet some of you. I'll be with my 11 year-old son at LA, but solo at Anaheim. I'm pretty easy to spot - 6'3" blond with a beard and rimless glasses. Can't be too many of these around! Don't be afraid to say "hi"...

Lol maybe I should offer to mail everyone who joins the forum and makes X-number of posts a free T-shirt. Come to think of it thatfs not a bad idea. Maybe if they do a 2008 tour to support the US release of Honeycreeper wefll do a T-shirt design contest. Cheesy

So to those people who have already seen them this tour and in past tours, I have a question:

What is the security like? That is, will I be searched upon entry? Basically, I'm bringing a digital camera for a few pics and I don't want to risk having it taken away at the door. I do understand (in the past) that if you're seen using one during the actual concert, that you get thrown out I think..

Well, a risk I'm willing to take anyhow.

---

I'll be going to the KEY CLUB show on Friday, November 16. If you want to know what I look like, I wear eyeglasses, have a moustache and goatee-thing growing, and a number 1 haircut (almost bald). I'll also be wearing a black Wii shirt, which will hopefully set me apart (not really, no). I'm willing to give out my cell phone to anyone here who requests it in the hopes of actually meeting someone here. Even though I'll most likely be upon a lot of Puffy fans that day, it would be cool to see someone from this forum over there.

Jeff on: November 14, 2007, 12:47:24 PM

I'm sure it depends on the venue more than Puffy. The first time I saw them in NYC was at a regular venue and they did search everybody, but they just took your camera if they found one (I'm sure they gave them back later). But they missed a lot, and they didn't take cell phones. So tons of people were still taking photos. If they saw you taking photos, they'd tell you to stop, and if they had to do it repeatedly, they'd get really mad but there was not much they could realistically do in the middle of the show. It was kind of funny, it was like a parent saying to a petulant child, "don't make me come over there! I mean it this time! You'd better stop!" I mean the guys were actually wagging their index fingers at people, that's about the extent of the control they had.

The second time I saw them was outdoors and there was basically no security coming in to the seating area. You could walk in with anything. If I had a band, I personally would not have played at such a venue. I mean you never know what some crazed idiot is gonna do. I do think there need to be searches in this day and age in this country, and there were none at that show. That's why there's all sorts of YouTube video and flickr photos of that show all over the place. They were also telling people not to take photos if they saw cameras, but I mean there were guys with SLR's and camcorders in there. Big cameras. And they all got off at least a few shots.

At least one guy in Seattle last night got some good photos that he took with a Canon Powershot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/saltywet/

(don't repost those without asking him; he wanted me to give him a credit and a link when I did).

So it seems like it's definitely possible to get a camera in. But if you want to be safe, just take your cell phone. And hold it low when taking photos.

Grin If i'm not to overwhelmed with excitement I'll look around. I don't know if i'll stand out. I'm 6'2" black curly hair and glasses will probably be wearing a black sweat shirt coat thing..

I'm going to be taking a small messenger bag with me for the trip, hope I get to keep it with me.

Oh, something interesting I found out a while ago after emailing the key club is, If you're under 21 you have to buy a $6 drink ticket for 2 non alcholic drinks(soda i assume) Means I have to bring an extra $6 with me.

But that raises my thoughts, is this a concert stadium? or a bar? or what? I hear its 3 stories...but if they want you to buy drinks its kind of strange for a concert. Only concert i've been too is a britney spears concert(she was popular at the time) and it was chaos.

I wonder how long the concert is going to last? 8-10 maybe? Because I have to be back at Union station to catch the bust at 1am. I'm just going to have to find some transportation back to the station from the key club. I don't know what L.A. is like in the middle of the night....people keep telling me i'm going to get robbed or something...

Oh hey, On my ticket(from ticket master) it says Section:GA Row:GA0 Seat:18. I wish they had a seating layout somewhere. Anyone else in that area?

Edit: hey if anyone wants to get a hold of me, I'm always signed in on MSN. I believe there is a link in my profile.

Hmm does GA stand for General Admission?

I found a map of the venue at their website but it doesn't seem to list actual seat rows or sections.

Could be general admission. Those pictures of the club on their website makes it even more confusing. Sitting at tables?

Is kind of a lot of GA's on the ticket. Well I know i'm seat 18 wherever that is.

Just saw at the bottom of their website "All Tickets General Admission\Standing Room Only\Seating Guaranteed with restaraunt reservation\Ticket subject to applicable service charges"

That...sounds...even more confusing...Wonder if that means we're standing...

Cerahbes on: November 14, 2007, 02:33:33 PM

becareful with your cameras, Puffy specifically requests no flash photography - they seemed okay with pictures as long as you didn't use a flash

also venues have camera rules sometimes

I remember in chicago last year the host walked out and said "due to the band's request, no flash photography is allow" and they said something like that in Vancouver this year, so Puffy does have a say in it I think

eddiefb3 on: November 14, 2007, 02:37:05 PM

Thats good to know, I could imagine why they would'nt want Flash photography. Lots of blinding lights while they're singing would probably cause them trouble.

Jeff on: November 14, 2007, 02:55:09 PM

"GA" means General Admission. Probably no seats Smiley

(Ticketmaster always puts a seat # on, no matter if there are actual seats or not.)

Mode7 on: November 14, 2007, 03:11:10 PM

Regarding Puffy not wanting flash photography: I totally understand. It must be disorienting facing all those flashes for a long time! In that case, I'll make sure to keep a low shutter speed..

Jinmouri on: November 14, 2007, 03:46:51 PM

I'll be sure to look out for everyone at the Key Club and House of Blues venues. I have red and dyed brown hair, 15 years old and 5'4" and will be solo...Just ask for Jinmouri! See you all...and Puffy soon!

timwamoonface on: November 14, 2007, 04:18:25 PM

does HOB: anaheim allow cameras?

Mode7 on: November 14, 2007, 05:22:49 PM

I'll probably make a sign to hold up that says: Puffy AmiYumi World.com

Free publicity! We need more members to spread the love and interest.

My email and AIM address is: nowhereman"shift2"gmail"period"com

"shift2" = @
"period" = .

My AIM and e-mail addresses are the same. I did that on purpose to help people out in case they wanted to contact me, but only knew one address. I understand that drawbacks of using the exact same address for both, but I'm keener on the benefits.

Lol well if I ever do make some T-shirts to promote this website or (more likely) a "Puffy Web" T-shirt with all our Puffy fansites and blogs on it you'll be sure to get one. Actually I go on a camping trip each year with about 15 of my in-laws and we always order some customized T-shirts with the theme of the place we're going to.

Andrew on: November 15, 2007, 01:55:38 PM

Hmm I guess he didn't vote but I recall "antennas to heaven" saying he was going to the San Francisco show tonight. Hopefully he will give us a report of it. Then we should have all the shows covered.

eddiefb3 on Puffy's myspace blog it says

"Get Ami and Yumifs AUTOGRAPH!!!

If you bought a CD at the venue, you already know but...
with a purchase of an album at the venue, you'll get Ami & Yumi's autograph!
(It's signed right before each show so they're fresh outta the oven)

Don't miss this chance!"

I hope they brought enough for everyone! Even if its $50 no way i want to miss out on getting one!

Andrew on: November 15, 2007, 07:45:53 PM

eddiefb3,

Cerahbes posted this link of his pic of the autograph if you want to take a look:

eddiefb3 on: November 15, 2007, 08:08:08 PM

Cool, Thanks Andrew.

So they don't sign the CD? or was that an insert?

Andrew on: November 15, 2007, 08:39:31 PM

Looks like a seperate card.

eddiefb3 on: November 15, 2007, 08:59:03 PM

I see, reading the quote more carefully I guess that does sound right. Could be even better! If they had signed the CD we wouldnt want to put it in the CD player.

Still sounds great no matter what! Only way it could be better is if it was personalized Wink

Cerahbes on: November 15, 2007, 09:59:15 PM

its a big 6"x6" card ... awkward, I prefer having the cd's inserts signed *plus it helps protect them to boot*

ya the splurge tour ones were signed on the inserts, not the actual cd
